*Position Overview:* We are seeking an initiative-taking and meticulous Assistant Controller to join our team at VFSA.
The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in supporting VFSA in overseeing accounting and other financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations within our manufacturing plant.
We're looking for someone who thrives in an individual contributor capacity, demonstrating strong hands-on skills to deliver results independently within the team.
This is a hands-on accounting role.
*Responsibilities: * * Assist the Controller in preparing financial statements, reports, and budgets for the manufacturing plant.
* Take ownership of full cycle accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
Duties will include entering vendor invoices, performing 3-way matches, verifying receipt of goods, and assisting in the preparation of AP runs.
Data entry will be required.
* Perform full cycle bookkeeping duties for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, maintaining meticulous records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
This position will also be responsible for multiple month-end and year-end reconciliations.
* Collaborate with the corporate office, global headquarters located in Germany and VFSA management to gather financial data, analyze variances, and provide insights into financial performance.
* Assist in managing the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries and financial reporting.
* Assist in inventory management and cost accounting activities to optimize inventory levels and manufacturing costs.
* Recommend best practices for financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with all regulations.
* Participate in forecasting and budgeting processes to make recommendations and support strategic decision-making for VFSA.
* Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
* Support external audits and tax filings by providing necessary documentation and timely explanations.
*Qualifications:* * Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred.
Significant experience as a full charge bookkeeper is also a plus.
* At least 5 years of experience in accounting or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.
g.
, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise, etc) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
* Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the VFSA team.
* Meticulous with a high level of accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
* Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Knowledge of GAAP and relevant accounting standards; experience with IFRS is a plus.
* Experience with ERP systems and financial modeling is desirable.
