I.
Essential Functions: 1.
Must be able to communicate effectively to individuals/groups in both verbal and written form.
ex: coworkers, clients, the public, and suppliers/vendors.

4.
Follow policies and procedures that govern the accounting/finance function of the organization, following the principles of governmental accounting, including budgeting, cost reporting, taxation, etc.
5.
Follow all financial requirements of program/grant as required by funding source, federal and state law.
Ensure all financial transactions are allowable by the funding source; partner with the assistant controller and/or program director as needed to ensure eligibility of transactions.
6.
Maintain general ledger(s) and books of original entry on an accrual basis.
7.
Prepare monthly financial statements including balance sheet(s), income and expense reports, trial balances and other reports as directed on a timely basis to meet funding source, policy council and board of directors’ reporting requirements.
8.
Reconcile bank statements to the respective general ledger control account balance(s).
9.
Prepare written financial and statistical reports as directed including monthly analysis of accounts, supporting calculations for journal entries, etc.
for permanent filing purposes for each respective general ledger assigned.
10.
Develop and implement proper keeping of financial records, making use of current technologies.
11.
Assist in the planning and implementation of changes in the accounting system as necessary or directed.
12.
Ensure that an adequate supply of accounting supplies and equipment is on hand to meet the day-to-day operational needs of the department, reporting equipment or office supply needs to the Assistant Controller or designer.
13.
Maintain confidentiality of all corporation information.
14.
Maintain schedules for fixed asset depreciation.
15.
Attend meetings of the Governing Board or Policy Council.
16.
Responsible for preparation of audit workpapers and works with Auditors/Monitors for Compliance Reviews; provides information and support as requested by the Assistant Controller and CFO.
17.
Coordinates the planning, development, and maintaining of operating budgets.
18.
Assist with HR functions relating to payroll, staff planning, salaries, etc.
19.
Serves as a liaison with representatives of external funding agencies and organizations, as appropriate.
20.
Prepare research, trends, and analysis to evaluate programs and develop recommendations for more cost-effective organization.
21.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
22.
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures that are necessary for providing sound accounting techniques.
23.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
24.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, Assistant Controller and/or CFO.

Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment with ambient lighting, and climate control.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Valid Driver’s License.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or bachelor’s degree in business administration (or another related discipline), supplemented with a minimum of 20 credit hours in accounting.
4.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
5.
Previous experience with accounting software.

Preferred Qualifications: 1.
Prior experience in grant accounting and Federal grant requirements is preferred.
2.
One (1) to three (3) years of progressive accounting experience.
3.
Previous experience with Skyward.
VII.
Travel: Ability to travel when required.
VIII.
Other Duties: Perform all other duties as deemed necessary by the Executive Director, CFO and/or Assistant Controller.
IX.
Work Schedule: This is a full-time position.
Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
