JOB Internship duration is approximately 400 hours.
Under the direction of the Parks Director, this internship is an opportunity designed for students to obtain relevant work experience to be competitive for future positions in Park and Venue Operations.
Duties may include but are not limited to, natural and cultural resource management; facility, grounds, and equipment maintenance management; interpretation and education programming and management; customer service, fee collection, revenue control, and fiscal accountability; marketing and promotional programming; park patrols to include visitor contact and park rules awareness and education.
Ensures compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations, and county policies and procedures.
Internship duration is approximately 400 hours.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Shadows and works alongside various Department managers, supervisors and staff to gain awareness and experience in all facets of a County Parks Department systemProvides customer service via telephone, email, and in personTakes reservations, registers park users, collects fees, manages cash draw, and processes end of day reportsAssists with clerical and administrative duties such as filing, preparing correspondence, maintaining databases and systemsLearns county procurement processLearns county budget tracking and preparations processesAssists with cleaning and basic maintenance activities associated with park grounds, trails, sports fields, facilities, and equipmentOperates light machinery and equipmentParticipates in Department safety program through safe working practices and mitigation of safety hazards in the parksLearns county policies and procedures and how they apply to employees and the DepartmentAssists with planning, coordination, and conducting special eventsAssists with event set-up and tear down activities at the Expo CenterAssists with monitoring and maintenance activities on various park preservesAssists with special projects or assignmentsAttends meetings and trainings, as requiredPerforms special duties as assignedORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPSReports directly to – Assigned ManagerDirect Reports – NoPHYSICAL DEMANDSPosition involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, heavy lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, and operating equipmentPosition involves safely operating a motor vehicleENVIRONMENTAL FACTORSIndoor and outdoor work in all environments, including inclement weather (i.

, extreme temperatures, rain, ice, etc.
