This Rental Fleet Technician 1 is responsible for the technical expertise and support services required to satisfy PSD rental fleet objectives and achieve departmental goals.
Essential Functions: Work safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards Maintain rental fleet assets in a safe and ready-to-rent condition Perform preventative maintenance service and minor repairs on the rental fleet assets Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment malfunctions and failures Perform equipment check in and check out procedures Completion of necessary paperwork and/or documentation for Supervisor or Rental Administration Manager to ensure timely customer invoicing Prepare and complete all job related documents, write service reports, order parts, and maintain clear customer records; in addition, access databases required to complete a job Emergency dispatch/delivery of equipment to customers both regular and after hours as needed Provide basic instruction on proper operation of equipment to customers Perform minor repairs and service in the field as needed and verify proper operation of all repairs Work overtime as required by workload and customer needs Assist with equipment set up and tear down at events and customer sites Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; g.
, ProTech Technician Training Paths Regular and punctual employee attendance required Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems General mathematical skills to include basic adding, subtracting, multiplication and division Basic to advanced skills in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing engines, generators, AC and DC circuits, air compressors, light towers, and temperature control equipment Planning and organizing skills to prioritize and plan work activities; used time efficiently; plans for additional resources Knowledge of safe work procedures and practices Verbal and written communication skills Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Exceptional customer service skills Basic diagnostic and trouble-shooting skills Operation and control skills of equipment or systems Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization Ability to read, write, and understand information Equipment selection skills to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job Ability to meet deadlines and work under fast-paced, time constraining circumstances Ability to operate a conventional forklift Ability to maintain good relationships with customers and co-workers Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands in order to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required, additional specialized/technical training or some college preferred One or more years’ experience required Supervisory Responsibilities: None Travel: Travel required for this position with possibility of an overnight stays associated with training, equipment set up and tear down activities or emergency jobs Additional Requirements: Valid Driver’s license required Must own required tools to perform repairs Physical Requirements: Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity Communicates with customers, service managers, and co-workers Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment Work Environment: Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings Exposure to hazardous conditions and contaminants Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water and high speed rotating equipment Works in extremely bright or inadequate lighting Exposure to high noise levels and body vibration Works in confined work spaces, awkward potions, and high places Works in an enclosed and open vehicle or equipment Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment Disclaimer: Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
