Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the design and implementation of database systems as well as maintaining performance and security to maximize the availability and performance of database applications and services.
Database Administrator Lead candidates will have mastered one or more of the following functional areas and demonstrate the skills needed to gain proficiency in the other area.
At the Lead level, candidates will be able to train and mentor other team members in the following position responsibilities.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
Position Responsibilities:
Overall:
Design, build, extract, document, debug, migrate and maintain complex database data and structures.
Design databases which maximize availability, performance, and security.
Utilize ITIL framework for Change, Incident, and Problem Management for supporting the production environment.
Instruct developers and administrators to develop efficient queries.
Create and maintain naming standards of all database objects and data.
Prepare and deliver presentations to Senior management when requested.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems with databases.
Provide overview training to end users.
Provide after-hours problem resolution as required.
Responsible for relevant documentation.
Other duties as assigned.
Functional Area #1 - Microsoft SQL Server:
Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL server software, configurations, and support systems.
Troubleshoot Microsoft SQL server performance issues.
Maintain software service packs and patches for assigned systems.
Technical Skills Required:
Microsoft SQL Server releases
SSIS and SSRS packages
Windows server OS
Monitoring tools
PowerShell
Visio
Encryption of databases
Recovery of Encryption databases
SQL replication and/or IBM CDC
Set up and maintain HA environments
Functional Area #2 - IBM Db2:
Configure and maintain Db2 software, configurations, and support systems.
Troubleshoot Db2 performance issues.
Maintain software service packs for assigned systems.

Db2 SQL Tuning
COBOL
Rexx Language
Db2 admin tools (Admin, Spufii, QMF, Omegamon, Log analysis, SQL performance Analyzer)

Familiar with TWS Scheduler
z/OS utilities
Job Qualifications:
At least one of the following:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in a network, computer, or management related field and substantial experience in an information technology-related field.
Associate degree from accredited college or university in a network, computer, or management related field and extensive experience in an information technology-related field.
Prior experience in Senior Database Administrator position or equivalent required.
Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Willing to travel as required.
Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.
