SUMMARY: The primary duties of this position include the promotion, development, and ongoing evaluation of Goodwill safety standards and development of staff to ensure compliance with all legal and accreditation requirements related to health and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following, other duties may be assigned: Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and best practices.
Lead in creating and maintaining a climate in which individuals feel safety has high value and that they are clear about responsibilities, safety aims, and objectives within Goodwill.
Ensure procedures are in place for all facilities’ legal and other obligations including fire safety, building, structures, building accessibility, inspections, drills, etc.
Responsible for the program of internal monitoring and audit of all Health, Safety and Training compliance obligations.
Ensure that all critical incidents or injuries are reported and investigated.
Assist with the maintenance of all appropriate OSHA records, including but not limited to, OSHA 300 logs.
Must maintain all CARF accreditation standards.
Formulate and maintain health and safety policies, manuals, training, and procedures.
Evaluates and suggests changes in training curriculum and/or working conditions to increase efficiency and/or safety of departments and procedures.
Must be knowledgeable and abide by all OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, and other environmental laws, as appropriate.
Must maintain First aid and CPR certification and ensure others are trained and certified.
Consults with and advises supervisors and managers regarding any training or safety issues.
Maintains positive, team atmosphere and relations with peers and other departments.
Travel within Heart of Texas Goodwill’s assigned territory may be required up to 40% of the time.
Manages and coordinates any necessary vendors related to health and safety for all Heart of Texas Goodwill facilities.
Maintains strictest confidentiality in all aspects of work.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree (A.
A.
) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with 3 years of related experience and/ or training strongly preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At a minimum an employee must possess the following skills: Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office and Windows programs including, but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) Office skills (faxing, copying) Communication skills (telephone and person to person) Organizational skills MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units such as whole numbers and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
