JOB
Under general supervision, is responsible for providing research and administrative assistance to division attorneys; drafts legal documents and correspondence; files case documents in a timely manner; maintains reporting statistics; and performs related duties as required.
This position is not covered under Civil Service
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Performs legal secretarial duties for the Criminal District Attorney’s DFPS Division.
Takes and transcribes a variety of correspondence and legal documents, including resolutions, ordinances, legal opinions, contracts, briefs, leases, and agreementsPrepares and processes correspondence, legal papers, and documents requiring knowledge of legal format, terminology, and proceduresMaintains litigation calendars and records follow-up trial dates, action dates, and deposition of casesInterprets County policies, procedures, laws, and regulations in response to inquiries and complaints and refers inquiries as appropriateResearches, compiles, and analyzes data for special projects and various reportsIndexes and files legal documents, correspondence, and reportsComplies and assembles various legal materials, form files, and other sources for the County attorney's use in providing legal assistance and in preparation of other legal documents and opinionsMay notarize documents for assigned attorneysPerforms related duties as required
