Job summary:
The main responsibility of the welder will be to fabricate steel products which include a variety of overhead canopies, awnings, sub-frames, and other various architectural items.
Primary functions and duties:
Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts
Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform the same job
Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors
Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing safety glasses, heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes
Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature
Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment
Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Read blueprints
Read and understand measurements
Layout and fit nozzles
Operate an overhead crane
Must pass ASME 6G SCH.
80 (SA312TP316L) 2" pipe test using GTAW process
Must pass ASME 2G plate (SA36 & SA240-304) test using GMAW process
Must pass a drug test and background check
Lift up to 50 lbs
Must have pulsed mig welding experience
Weld Test:
We are looking for people to pass a plate test of 516-70 10 “ long in the 3g position.
They will test with an open root 1/8” opening max.
They will run Gmaw-s down hill direction for proper root fill the weld is feather out for a hot pass in FCAW.
Hot pass to cap will be completed with FCAW in the 3g uphill position during each pass visual should be conducted to remove any slag or to ensure that any roll over is not present for the next layer.
Cap visual are no weaving on cap only stringer beads with slight oscillation to control heat and speed.
Cap visual shall pass these requirements:
3/16 max reinforcement
No undercut present 1/32” or less
No cold lap or roll over must be visually acceptable to view wetted at the toes.
No slag inclusion and no cracks or porosity.
If the test plate passes visual, it will be sent to UT test for volumetric testing.
