What We are Looking For: Dr.
Aaron's Wright biomedical research group in the Department of Biology is seeking a postdoctoral research associate with expertise in chemical biology and/or organic chemistry.
Dr.
Wright's group is focused on phenotype-driven studies of the gut microbiome and other complex biological systems.
Within this focus, the research group has a strong program in the synthesis and application of chemical probes in complex biological systems and measurements of probe labeling by LC-MS based proteomics, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry.
We are hoping to extend our expertise by identifying exceptionally motivated individuals with a Ph.
D.
and a background in chemical biology or organic chemistry.

edu/wright-lab/ Education, Skills & Experience Candidates must have or be in pursuit of a PhD with a background in chemical biology, organic chemistry, or a closely related field is required.
Independently design and execute experiments within their field of expertise.
Additional skills of interest include experience in one or more of the following areas: Application of chemical molecules/tools to biological systems Biochemistry Microbiology Protein expression Cell culture Cell Biology Molecular Biology, genetics, and/or functional assays.
Ability to collaboratively develop novel ideas and methods for applications relevant to internal and externally funded research programs.
Ability to contribute to and possibly lead the preparation of reports, papers, posters, presentations, etc.
What You Will Do: Develop and execute independent research in phenotype-driven microbiome studies Perform laboratory research using chemical biology, organic chemistry, microbiology, and molecular techniques Keep accurate and current records of all results from experiments performed; document methods and processes Present your research in group meetings and at national and international meetings Provide mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students Participate in the proposal writing and submission process Develop and implement research quality control procedures Verify the accuracy and validity of data Work with highly technical and complex research instruments Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission Ability to comply with University policies Maintain regular and punctual attendance Prepare and manage extensive databases A complete application will include the following documents.
