WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Baylor Sciences and Facilities is looking for a responsible, hands-on, and detail-oriented Research and Development Machinist.
The R&D Machinist will provide technical guidance, expertise, and leadership to faculty and students regarding design and how to build complex, novel, or state of the art prototypes, components, and parts; often requiring the development of new and improved techniques, procedures, and tooling.
A High School diploma, two years of relevant work experience, and an active Christian faith are required.
An associate degree from either a community college or trade school, five years of relevant work experience, and an active Christian faith are preferred.
A combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of the required degree and/or years of experience.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Oversee and coordinate all day-to-day operational and support activities of the shop.
Ensure work production meets established objectives, specifications, and standards, and that all applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
Provide technical guidance, expertise, and leadership to faculty and students regarding design and how to build complex, novel, or state of the art prototypes, components, and parts; often requiring the development of new and improved techniques, procedures, and tooling.
Produce custom tooling and fixture design for complex prototypes, as needed.
Operate standard and specialized equipment, i.
e.
engine lathe, horizontal or vertical milling machines, surface grinder, bandsaw, drill press, and measuring tools to produce prototype parts.
Consult with engineers and other personnel regarding product information to fabricate special parts and equipment, recommending material and design changes when necessary.
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission.
Ability to comply with university policies.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
