Department: Instruction Benefits: Eligible FLSA Status: Exempt Application Deadline: Open until filled Effective Date: ASAP Job Summary: Responsible for the success of the total teaching/learning process within the assigned nursing classroom, laboratory, shop, or other learning environment.
Responsible for scheduling, supervising, teaching, and evaluating students in the classroom and clinical setting.
Minimum Required Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution for RN instruction Must hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas Minimum Required Experience: Three years experience as a licensed nurse.
Experience in medical surgical nursing, mental health, or women’s nursing.
Preferred: Teaching experience in a higher educational nursing program Required Abilities: Ability to be detail-oriented.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Ability to develop and implement a lesson plan/ concept map in assigned nursing topic.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information obtained Ability to operate an IBM compatible computer and other standard office equipment.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to think critically and apply appropriate problem-solving skills.
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision Ability to supervise and guide students safely and effectively in the clinical setting.

Required Knowledge: Working knowledge of the guidelines of the Texas Board of Nursing TAC rule 214 and/or 215 for education Nurse Practice Act for Licensure.

Essential Job Functions: Performs and carries out instruction, including careful planning of the course, preparation of lessons, meeting all scheduled classes, clearly informing students of course requirements, and fairly and impartially grading all students in accordance with the standards established by the institution.
Schedules, supervises, teaches, and evaluates students in the clinical setting in a clear, objective manner.
Responsible for the recruitment, selection and ongoing evaluation of all part-time instructional and non-instructional staff within the program area.
Recommends selection of and dismissal of adjunct faculty and instructional staff to the Dean of Instruction.
Works with the Dean of Instruction regarding adjunct instruction and class coverage.
Assists the Dean of Instruction in arranging for substitutes in case of absence by the regular faculty.
Oversees classroom and instructional material for all classes and labs; gathers textbook adoptions from faculty and submits to the Dean.
Inventories, maintains and secures facilities and equipment for the program area.
Develops a semester schedule in conjunction with faculty to submit to the Dean of Instruction each semester.
Works closely with faculty and the Dean of Instruction in the formulation, justification, development and revision of courses and curricula.
Acts as a resource person and aide to faculty in finding answers to instructional or curricular problems.
Communicates information on policies, program guidelines, course curricula, and other relevant information to new and returning adjunct faculty.
Serves as a liaison between the Dean of Instruction and adjunct faculty.
Assists the Dean of Instruction in the preparation of a detailed budget for the designated instructional program.
Provides appropriate information and status reports on activities within the program area or department, including, but not limited to, program area accomplishments during the year and plans for the following year.
Responsible for coordinating program reviews and assessments.
Teaches classes as assigned and carries out all duties of the College Instructor.
Other Information: Serves on faculty and standing committees as requested.

Physical Requirements: Light work; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work.
