*Job Title: *Counselor
*Reports to: *Clinical Director
*Status: *Exempt, Salary
*Position Summary:*
The Counselor is responsible conducting, completing and documenting clinical screenings, assessments, treatment planning, counseling (individual, group and family), family and referral initial and weekly updates, discharge planning, crisis interventions, incident reports, and any other services associated with client’s care in Brazos Recovery Services, LLC.
The Counselor also follows all County, State, and Federal mandates pertaining to HIPAA.
The Counselor motivates clients to actively participate in their therapeutic program, as well as seeing it to completion.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* · Responsible for client care for substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders; · Responsible for conducting intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling (individual, group and family), and discharge planning; · Responsible for initial and weekly updates to client’s family and referral source; · Responsible for ensuring appropriate Release of Information is obtained for initial and weekly updates; · Participates in weekly treatment team staffing providing updates, clinical insights and recommendations as appropriate for clients; · Works in a cohesive and respectful manner with multidisciplinary treatment team; · Provides accurate and sufficient documentation; · Completes documentation within compliance of 448 in the Texas Administrative Code and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF); · Responsible for attending trainings and staff meetings; · Other duties may be assigned.
*Supervisory Responsibilities:* This position does not have any direct reports.

) or higher in Mental Health or related field preferred; · Clear and current Texas License as LPC, LPC-A, LMFT, LMFT-A, LMSW or LCSW; AND · Two (2) years minimum experience in the delivery of Substance Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation models are preferred.
· Six (6) months minimum experience in the delivery of Substance Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation models · Basic understanding of the tenets of Chapter 448 in the Texas Administrative Code for detoxification, residential and outpatient levels of care preferred; · Familiarity with the standards of the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) addressing residential care, counseling practice and documentation preferred.
*Language Skills:* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, groups of managers, consumers, and the general public.
