Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation of Hillsboro offers a living alternative to a very special group of people, our senior citizens.

In order to continue to reach our goals as a company, we are seeking experienced CNA to join our team.
Candidates should be able to perform the essential responsibilities as well as meet the qualifications listed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned with or without reasonable accommodations.
Assist residents with all aspects of activities of daily living which includes: toileting at least every 2 hours and prn, offering bed pans and urinal, bathing, grooming, dressing, mouth care, shaving, skin care, turning and repositioning every 2 hours and prn, peri-care, keeping skin dry and odor free, assist/feed residents as needed, provide fresh water and encourage fluid intake, keep hearing aids, denture and eyeglasses clean, functional and in place.
Promptly and courteously answers call lights to determine residents' needs within 5 minutes.
Transports residents or assists residents to walk.
Makes bed and handles all linen in appropriate manner to prevent spread of infections.
Uses assistive devices such as hand rolls, pads, pillows, splints, ted hose, etc.
to maintain positioning and proper body alignment of residents.
Takes and records vital signs, weights, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed.
Gives catheter care as required.
Attends a minimum of 12 mandatory in-services per year.
SAFETY & SANITATION Use gait belt for all patient transfers and ambulation.
Ask for help when needed.
Utilize good body mechanics.
Release restrained residents according to procedure.
Report all incidents and accidents immediately.
Correct all unsafe and hazardous conditions and equipment immediately.
Make use of appropriate protective devices/clothing on hand for handling infectious waste and or body/blood fluids.
Ensure that all rooms on your assignment are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner.
Keep hallways clear of clutter.
All carts to the same side of the hall.
Participate in all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills in a safe and professional manner.
Can verbalize process of emergency procedures, fire drills, evacuation procedure, etc.
Knows location of fire alarms, extinguishers, and exits.
Knows location of MSDS manuals.
Keeps chemicals and hazardous materials stored in a locked area.
Utilize infection control and universal precautions to assure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times and that aseptic and isolation techniques are followed.
RESIDENTS RIGHTS FUNCTIONS Is aware of resident’s rights and abides by them.
Assure the residents' property and personal rights are followed at all times, including knocking before entering the resident’s room, using privacy curtains, etc.
Treats residents fairly, with kindness, dignity and respect.
Greet newly admitted/transferred residents and introduce yourself.
Wears nametag, where residents, visitors, and management can see it throughout the day.
CARE PLAN AND ASSESSMENT FUNCTIONS Participate in the comprehensive assessment of the nursing needs of each resident in your assigned area.
Review the residents care plan for information needed to provide appropriate resident care.
PHYSICAL, COGNITIVE, AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
Ability to remain calm under stress.
Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.
Ability to demonstrate patience, tact, courtesy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile residents within the facility.
Must be able to lift and transfer a minimum of 50 pounds.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must be certified as a nursing assistant, by the department of Health.
