What We’re Looking For
The Student Employment Specialist – Talent Attraction & Communication at Baylor University is a key member of the student employment team, reporting directly to the Manager of Student Employment.
In addition to the responsibilities of a student employment specialist, this role will spend 50% of their time focusing on communication and outreach.
This role focuses on providing personalized assistance to students seeking on-campus employment opportunities, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience throughout the entire employment journey.
The Student Employment Specialist plays a crucial role in connecting students with suitable job positions, guiding them through the application and hiring process, completing the necessary internal steps to ensure their data is correct, and fostering a positive work experience that aligns with their academic and career goals.
A Bachelor’s degree, one year of relevant experience, and an active Christian faith are required.
A Master's degree is preferred.
Additional preferred skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate to students from diverse backgrounds.
Experience in advising, counseling, or supporting students in an educational or employment context.
Familiarity with Ignite or other cloud-based system is a plus.
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in office software, data management, and communication tools.
A collaborative and team-oriented approach to work.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do Devote 50% of time to communications initiatives, including social media content creation, text campaigns, newsletter articles, training materials, user group creation/development, and website updates.
Maintain regular communication with students and managers to keep them informed student employment information, details, and events.
Communicate and execute student employment outreach events Collaborate with university communication channels to promote student employment programs effectively.
Serve as the primary point of contact for students seeking information about on-campus employment opportunities.
Provide personalized guidance to students on identifying suitable job openings, preparing application materials, and navigating the hiring process.
Collaborate with university departments to identify available job positions that align with students' skills, interests, and academic disciplines.
Manage candidate pool by matching students with appropriate job opportunities, considering their schedules, preferences, and career goals.
Assist and monitor all the steps within the applications and hiring process within Ignite including creating requisitions, updating hire status, and updating student employment records as needed.
Coordinate with the Manager of Student Employment to organize orientation sessions for newly hired student employees.
Provide students with essential information about workplace expectations, time cards, policies, and procedures.
Maintain regular communication with students to keep them informed about job opportunities, workshops, and other relevant information.
Collaborate with university communication channels to promote student employment programs and events.
Maintain accurate records of student employment information, including job placements, hours worked, and contact details.
Prepare reports on student employment trends, feedback, and program effectiveness.
Address student concerns, questions, and issues related to their on-campus employment experience.
Collaborate with supervisors and the Manager of Student Employment to resolve any conflicts or challenges.
