What We're Looking For
The Department of Classics housed in the College of Arts & Sciences is seeking an Office Manager who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the department.
The successful candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills, be detail-oriented, and have expertise in providing excellent customer service.
The candidate must be a self-starter and work well in a team environment.
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three years of closely related professional experience in processing payrolls for large employers or related accounting or financial analysis duties.
An active Christian Faith is required.
Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.
What You Will Do
Helps ensure proper payment of wages and salaries by using the in-house payroll system to correctly process salaries and reported hours worked, correctly utilize paid leave and holiday pay, correctly accrue compensatory time, and correctly compute overtime.
Generates records of payrolls showing each payee, hours worked for nonexempt employees, wages paid, associated withholdings for retirement, benefits, and other contributions, and taxes withheld, maintains payroll records and accounts, and prepares journal entries related to payroll in a timely manner.
Extracts and analyzes data to perform appropriate accounting, reporting and reconciliations of payroll related expense, liability, and control accounts.

Uses analytic tools to test and verify the accuracy of payroll data, coordinating with appropriate staff for necessary corrections and adjustments.
Coordinates with Human Resources staff to assure that proper benefit deductions have been accounted for.
Calculates adjustments for employee back pay, deferred pay and pro-rated pay
Processes off-cycle payrolls in accordance with policy, including communication of processes for weekly off-cycle check runs.
Works collaboratively with other Payroll Analysts, Human Resources staff, and others across the university.
Provides superior customer service to assist employees or supervisors with understanding payroll processes.
Contributes to the success of the university by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned, acting as a back-up for other positions as needed, maintaining high levels of accuracy, maintaining a professional demeanor and appropriate levels of confidentiality, and providing superior customer service in all interactions.
Meets strict processing deadlines.
Performs other related duties as the supervisor may deem necessary.
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
