Located at 701 Washington Street, Hotel 1928 is the historic restoration and adaptive reuse of the former Grand Karem Shrine Temple Building.
Named after the year the building was completed, Hotel 1928 offers 33 guest rooms, two food and beverage outlets, a café, over 6,600 square feet of event space, a rooftop terrace, and a retail shop featuring exclusive Magnolia-designed Hotel 1928 merchandise.

Chief Engineers are responsible for overseeing the maintenance team, managing budgets, and implementing strategies to ensure the hotel's facilities are in optimal condition.
WHAT YOU WILL DO Budget Maintenance: Develop and manage the department budget, including allocating resources, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities Preventive Maintenance: Implement and oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to ensure all systems and equipment are regularly inspected, serviced, and well-maintained Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, such as power outages, equipment failures, or safety incidents.
Coordinate emergency repairs as needed.
Equipment and Systems Maintenance: Oversee the operation and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems, ensuring they meet safety and efficiency standards.
Energy Efficiency: Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives and environmentally friendly practices to reduce operational costs and promote sustainability.
Compliance: Ensure the hotel's compliance with all relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental laws.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Supplier and Vendor Management: Manage relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee the procurement of maintenance materials and services.
Guest and Staff Safety: Prioritize the safety and security of guests and staff by regularly inspecting facilities, identifying potential hazards, and taking corrective actions Leadership: Manage a Maintenance Technician, coaching, leading, and developing that individual.
Training and Development: Provide training and professional development opportunities for engineering staff, keeping them updated on industry best practices and safety procedures Emergency Response Coordination: Act as the point of contact for emergency response teams and coordinate efforts during crises or natural disasters Report Generation: Prepare regular reports for hotel management on the status of maintenance activities, budgets, and upcoming projects Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about changes in regulations, codes, and safety standards related to building maintenance and engineering WHO YOU ARE You are an experienced and knowledgeable professional with expertise in building maintenance and engineering.
You possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills, ensuring that the hotel's physical assets operate smoothly and efficiently.
