The Animal Services Supervisor is an important part of the League City Animal Care’s team.
This position provides leadership, direction, and supervision to ensure best practices and high standards in animal care and client care across departments.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent organization leadership ability, as well as customer service skills that provide a high level of pleasant professional service to all clients, staff, and volunteers.
The position will work independently and responsibly while observing all health and safety guidelines and contribute enthusiastically to the positive culture and mission of the LCAC at all times.
This is a safety sensitive and/or DOT position.
As such, you will be required to participate in random drug testing at the city.

In collaboration with the Animal Services Manager, the Animal Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing staff and ensuring the implementation of and adherence to shelter rules and procedures based on industry best practices.
This includes reviewing and updating such rules and procedures systematically as needed.
Ensures all staff and volunteers understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures and support the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Hires, supervises, guides, provides feedback, disciplines, and evaluates direct reports in the performance of their job responsibilities and for their growth and safety.
Oversees onboarding, training, reviews, and performance plans of direct reports.
Oversees adequate staffing coverage, maintain scheduling and time off requests.
Demonstrates the ability to lead, motivate and supervise teams as well as the ability to be innovative and resourceful to continue the League City no-kill mission.
Ensures that humane care and proper attention is provided to all animals, with five freedoms in mind, including situations of capturing, restraining, and caring for animals using low stress techniques, appropriate treatments, and care that ensures the mental and physical wellbeing of animals.
Meets regularly and frequently with the appropriate teams to proactively address needs of the facility, staff, and pets, including shelter rounds, team meetings, volunteer and advisory board meetings.
This may also include communication with volunteers and fosters.
Maintains open lines of communication, including overseeing routine staff meetings.
Oversees the daily operations of the Animal Care and Animal Protection teams including the Lead Animal Care Techincian, Lead Animal Protection Officer and other direct reports as assigned.
Works with Lead Animal Care Technician to maintain the flow of animals through the facility based on Capacity for Care (CFC).
Works with the Lead Animal Protection Officer to build trust in the community through a message that balances community engagement with enforcement.
Works collaboratively to implement intake diversion programs to reduce preventable surrenders to the shelter including maintaining rehoming and pet owner resources websites, and the pet pantry programOversees the medical program including entering in in-house treatments, veterinary visits, and surgery schedules.
Monitors inventories of various supplies including but not limited to cleaning and care supplies, animal food, and office supplies to ensure adequate stock.
Works with Animal Care and Animal Protection teams to improve marketing communication and transparency to the public.
Provides exceptional customer service, resolves customer complaints, and ensures a positive customer experience.
Maintains personal appearance and behavior that meets the expectations of LCAC’s mission, values, and relationship with the community, including clients, volunteers, employees, supporters, and animals.
Maintains continuing education in current animal welfare policies and best practices.
Learns and utilizes shelter database software as needed.
Conducts any related tasks as assigned by the Animal Services Manager.
Demonstrates a positive and cooperative attitude toward all staff and citizens.
